Default Scale difference

I like and have had both Larrivee, L-09 and OM-05 along with a few 03 series, and Eastmans, E10 00, 20 OM, and 20SS. All are really nice and especially for the price. Larrivee rarely makes short scale and The Eastmans I had were all short scale. Note their OMs are short scale which is different than most OMs. I like that. The Eastmans are more comfortable to me, but that is personal.

It looks like most of us are pointing it these two makers in this price range.

Happy hunting!

I forgot to mention the Eastman E 10 00 and I own one. Very comfortable and loud for a smaller body. Short Scale, easy to play with a fast neck.
I also owned a Larrivee L03 and they are great guitars. If you can find an L03 for $1100, it would be a candidate. I personally like my Eastmans better but that is simply a personal thing. Larrivees are very high in quality. Mine was excellent.

I'd increase my budget a bit and go for this Taylor 414 in the Classified section...http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=482144

I'd try the Eastman E10-20SS, or the Martin D15 or 000-15.

All of the above new are under your budget.

Martin 15 series over the MMV? The MMV's can be had under 1k used.

Sounds like a Taylor though I think that's a good thing.

Really nice looking Eastman OM here in the AGF classifieds.
Just a little over half your budget.

Yep, OM 3R or L 3R Larrivee. Guild has an all Hog, made in US for just a bit over your budget, looks like a sweet little guitar. Gibson LG-2 used can be had for a tick over 1K and simply a marvelous guitar.

You don't have a dreadnought or slope shoulder, so a Gibson J15 would be my first choice - great strummer, the classic Gibson tone, that comfortable short scale, and a factory installed pickup. After that, I'd look at anything from the Eastman E Series with the E20D, E6D, and the E10SS being my favorites. Any of these can be found for under $1100, even half that on the used market. The Gibson would have to be purchased used.

I have this same guitar and Love it. Taylor did something amazing with the 200 DLX series. I preferred it to a 2017 314ce. Great gigger with some Koa tonal properties. (Koa veneer on the outside but ALSO Koa wood on the inside of the guitar)

OR maybe a Dread is in your sights? A new Guild D20 has been calling my name. The reviews on youtube had it sounding amaaaaazing. Without electronics, I think it's in your budget.

OR a gs mini. These are awesome and I'd check out the mahogonay and koa versions. I have a Mahogonay-e on preorder and cant wait to pick it up at my local gc to compare it to the Koa.

That's just 3 of many many options.

Happy Hunting!

I'm going to go against the stream of opinions here (except one poster who agrees with me). The Larrivee might be great, but I have yet to find one to play, so I have no knowledge. There's no Martins, in my opinion, in that price range, that I think are better than Taylors in the same range, unless you find one used. My suggestion is think about a Gibson J-15. Great strummer and picker.
