Very very nice. I'm getting the itch but I can't do it. I have furniture projects and I'm gearing up repertoire to do a solo gig in my little town.
Really good work here. I need to talk to you about that side-bending press. That's the part that scares me. David

Thanks David,
Side bending was the thing I worried about the most also. It really is not that hard. I have bent a couple of sides with just a pipe with a torch blowing into it and got along fine. Just watch a couple of youtube videos on it and you will be fine. Rosewood bends easier than mahogany IMO. Or if that is the only part that scares you, If you get the wood from LMI you could have them bend it for you on the first one. Good luck with the Gig. Travis |

Build update: I kind of left this thread hanging. Bow season hit and I got distracted.
I have this guitar strung up and have finished all the set up on it. I am very happy with the way it sounds. It is by far the best of my builds to date. The cedar paired with walnut really sounds great. This guitar falls almost perfectly between rosewood and mahogany. The misrange is clean and clear and the bass is strong without too many overtones. I have a feeling I will be building some more Walnut guitars because I have a stack of it. Here are some final pictures. I have a Sitka Spruce and a Red Spruce top so I may pair one of them up with some Walnut for the next build. Thanks for following Travis |

VERY impressive results! Congrats! You've got plenty of talent, that's sure. Did you build/acquire all the jigs and tools already for your first guitar?

I decided to give building in January this year. That was 11 months ago and this is actually my 8th build since then. I made all the jigs such as molds, side bending jig, neck jig and so forth. It scares me to add up what I have spent on tools since then but I justify it by thinking this way... I sold a Taylor BTO and the money from that sale bought just about every tool I needed including a used drum sander, a used band saw, plus enough wood and supplies to build a few guitars. So in reality I turned one guitar into several and got a great hobby to boot. With each build I get a little better and more confident in what I am doing. I started on #9 this last weekend, a Rosewood / Adi topped guitar the same size as this one. After a month off from building, I am ready to get back at it. Travis |

Wow!!! That is beautiful! You just built my dream build: walnut and cedar. I really hope to try my hand at building, and threads like this give me hope! Thanks for sharing! Well done! How about a sound clip???? :-)

I don't have a set up to do a sound clip but I will try to talk a buddy into it. I really want to get one up because I am proud of how it sounds. Good luck on giving building a try. Travis |

Very nice build and final results - very nice!
I'm just setting up shop to do the same thing and looking forward to my first build. I hope it turns out somewhere close to this but it will be a fun ride however it sounds and looks.

Amature ? I think not !
Amature ? I think not !! This is an awesome build for a first guitar, but looking at the equipment you used you can't possibly be an amature wood worker. If you own that equipment, I know I am right. I'd have a hard time finding the "on" switches let alone know how to use the machines. So come clean, you've been doing some form of wood working for a awhile ?
Previous wood working experience or not, you've done an awesome job and created a beautiful looking guitar and I wish I had a smidgen of your skill. Congratulations !! John
