Well since I went to Wheaton College and have many fond memories of Chicago, I'll turn a blind eye to the ballot box for a little while. My brother is still working on his doctorate up at Trinity in Deerfield. Maybe I'll get him to help in electioneering.

Tom, DQ blizzards are the closest we come to the real thing. I got a couple when I was at school, but now I just get the soft serve and remember. And yes, the double X is a tad more work, and you're right that I could burn a couple more calories.

Just about an hour left to cast your vote.

Looking good, Ryan! Go with Boss Tom's suggestion for xtra depth.

OK, I'll vote......I'll completely throw a curveball out there:

How about thinning the top and going with a fan bracing? Limit to low tension light strings but it will ad sparkle and sustain.

OK, another design feature that the zany "boss" suggests:

Tapered headstock

Ok, well time's up. So Fazool had his curve fan vote, the rest of the US had double X votes except for Chicagoland which had 473 votes for standard bracing.

By geographical area, the double X carries it.

Thanks for all who voted this time. I'm sure I'll have something more as I continue working today.

We're actually building (in fact almost finished) with an all Mango lattice braced guitar ala Chet Akins-style for another AGF'er, and we do fan braced crossovers as well. Unfortunately, I have to limit my curves on this guitar for time sake. One week isn't that long!

Also, our peghead is basically our brand. If I tweaked it, I might need y'all to help me find another boss to annoy.

I like the suggestions though. It helps to keep this brain whirring.

Sorry I haven't been Johnny-on-the-spot with photos today. Here's a couple to show some progress is happening.

Here's the back receiving braces:

And the winning double X bracing pattern.

More soon

Ryan, you are really in a cool groove there, all by yourself. This guitar you're making is really coming together beautifully. Steve is very fortunate to have such a willing and able co-pilot.
I wish I could get my boss to leave for awhile, but since he's ME, not much chance of that.
Cool thread, btw- keep having fun!

Thanks Steve and Steve. We've got a fair amount of orders that we've been plugging through all year. These little breaks from the pressure of obligation can be re-energizing - even though one of us gets to do it from beautiful Asheville and the other one is still working.

Plus, I've always wanted to do a thread where the AGF members build the guitar by popular vote. This isn't exactly it, but it's maybe a trial run for what could be done. I know some people have been enjoying it.

John, thanks for the shirt. It's like an older brother's ribbing every time I wear it, and since I'm an older brother, I can appreciate that.

well.....

Here is the rub. If the consensus makes the decisions, the guitar is not to (likely) any one person's unique tastes. Fun to be a part of but, have they found a buyer?

Just sayin'

Chris

Or, if done by consensus would it more likely have broad appeal?
