Nice - 5 Doerrs in a room. The Claxton was just a distraction for Tom. (no offense, Ed)

Dave, what did you pick?

This forum is such a great resource. I have been looking for larger 16 inch bout minimum guitars for my collection. I found this guitar sitting at Guitar Gallery then then found this thread which describes its build. Does anyone here on the forum know who owned it for the last three years? Based on the specs and the many, many favorable posts about Doerr guitars on this forum, I am bringing it in for a trial this weekend. I'll post later on the results.

Smile Doerr

Congratulations Cincy. The Doerr looks amazing! Now if you only had some nice guitars to compare it to.

If you like 16" and larger guitars, you should audition a 2008 or later Marc Beneteau concert standard sometime. My Beneteau CS is my favorite for DADGAD or other lower tunings. You can check out YouTube videos by Don Ross or Dustin Furlow if you want to get an idea of the Beneteau sound.

Looking forward to your impressions of that stunning Doerr.

Thanks John. There are so many fantastic luthiers at work these days. It's a great time to be alive.

I hope things go well in your evaluation of the Doerr.

Have a look at the build thread for my Doerr, delivered last August. I'll be posting one of my exhaustive reviews of it soon. I don't want to reveal too much about it yet, but I'll simply say that it was a turning point in my 50+ year guitar quest.

BTW, Tom Doerr will be one of the luthiers (along with John Slobod, Gage Halland and Laurent Brondel) in the Luthiers Exhibit as part of Guitar Week at the Swannanoa Gathering and will have several of his instruments with him to sample.

Smile Great Score!!!

Wow, what a beauty!!!

Not sure how I missed this all the first time around, but glad I finally saw this.

I hope you are really enjoying this axe! (What's not to love?)

I too have the itch for Big Guitars! Since I am playing almost all my gigs completely unplugged the volume is very helpful!

Let me add my usual plug for John Kinnaird and his incredible instruments. Recently he kindly added a 16.75" (almost) Jumbo to his lineup at my request. It is a REAL BEAST, and super comfy with my "Pablo Package" of bevels and Manzer Wedge plus more goodies.

Your new axe is Brilliant!

Have fun

Paul

This is a lovely guitar and I've played it in my living room when Tom brought it along with all of the guitars he was bringing out to SBAIC. It was awesome. I had a Sterling on order at the time in a different body shape and I changed the body shape to a Solace (Adirondack and Brazilian) after I played this one. So, I've got basically the same guitar with a few aesthetic differences. Everyone's got different taste, but to my taste, you've got an excellent guitar en route. Congrats!
