Not a Beatles song but a John Lennon song done by him solo on piano. Here I use my trusty old Guild D35-SB and capo it up I then did several takes on it and chose the one I liked best. And it was not the last take but rather one of the earilier takes. Spent some time trying to get the feel of the piano arrangement to come through on my guitar. A very simple flatpicked arrangement. LOVE a John Lennon cover (An audio recording only so I put images to it and snuck my wife and me in there in the middle):

Wow, Gil! That was excellent! Very well done! Hands down, my favorite of the songs I've heard from you. Your voice can be so different, depending on the material. That was cool, and the photos were excellent as well. I'm guessing that was you and your wife at 1:20ish?

Thanks for posting this. It's great.

Thank so much David! Means a lot coming from you. I just learned the song while recording it and sat and played about 8 different takes experimenting with capo position, tempo and singing style.
I then reviewed all 8 and this one was the 6th take and it stood out from all the rest IMO.

Now I have to figure out if I can replicate that take again! I haven't played the song since recording that.

This is also not a Beatles song but it's pretty close. John released it in 1971, not too long after the group broke up. It's satisfying to play.

Well I went to download it and my computer reminded me that I alredy have it. I remember this rendition and I also remeber saying that I liked it even better than TE's. Still holds true. A true masterpiece by you. Have you thought of releasing a CD of Beatles solo fingerstyle?

Here's my rendition which is more of a strumming and singing attempt at trying to capture Lennon's original piano arrangement feel. I kept it very simple:

Thanks, Gil. And nice job on your rendition, as well. It's a cool song, huh?

I have thought of putting together a couple different "theme" CD's. I like a lot of different stuff and to focus on one particular thing on a CD sounds attractive, just for organizational purposes, if for nothing else. Beatles, Brazilian, Folk, Pop Standards, music of today's fingerstyle players, etc. Maybe when I retire.

It looks like no one else has any Beatles tunes to add to this thread. Before it dies, I wanted to add a couple of videos that I think capture the essence of what a Beatles song can sound like in the hands of a true artist in the genre I listen to most: solo fingerstyle guitar. Sometimes, words aren't necessary.

Tommy Emmanuel is a master of artificial cascading harmonics, first developed by Lenny Breau. He uses them to embellish his beautiful arrangement of "Michelle".

Laurence Juber plays many Beatles tunes. He plays them to perfection. Here's just one of them.

Thanks all for posting!
