Default What's the best value in a carbon fiber guitar?

I'm looking for a Carbon Fiber guitar due to extreme humidity that I cannot properly control in my current living environment. (Central America)

What's the best value or "bang for the buck" on the market now?

I'm a bit out of the guitar loop these days, and I haven't posted here in ages (no offense). Just been so busy trying to keep up with life.

I'd appreciate any and all tips or suggestions, etc.

Im sure that some more educated people than I will chime in, but in the meantime I've played some Rainsong guitars that sounded wonderful. Better than the Taylors that were hanging right next to them. If I was in your situation thats what I would be looking at.

Lots of factors. But here is my quick responce there is no right or wrong but this is me what I like.

1. Rainsong probably my first choice to recommend, it is a great guitar, most availability, I like the bright sound and light weight. Lots of models. Very well made.

2. You may find irony here but my current favorite carbon guitar is Emerald but that would be the new releases. Doubleneck and the just released X20-OS. Have not played a steel X20-OS but will early next year. I think they have something very special going. Alistair Hay has no equal.

3. Peavey Composite Acoustics making this brand with great quality. A favorite with many that I respect. I have migrated to brighter and lighter. They are said to sound more woodlike.

Best to play and see what you like. There is on this site a Carbon section

Just to add to DN's post, the 4th CF guitar manufacturer is Blackbird, out of San Francisco. Magnificent sound, great service. They seem expensive until you hear them. So there you have it-- Rainsong, Emerald, Composite Acoustics, Blackbird. All four have very different and characteristic tone and design. Its definitely worth some time perusing their web sites and playing each if you can...

Back before CA went under I was selling the new OX RAW for $800 and the new GX RAW for $1300 which would have qualified as a "best bang for the buck" price but those prices proved unsustainable so today all four CF builders will give you similar pricing. If I did have to choose one it would be the Rainsong S-DR1100N2, with an MAP of $1250 it will be tough to beat. BTW, all Rainsong Models will get an across the board price hike of $100 MAP January 1st so you have five weeks to get that price.

My experience is limited to several Rainsong models. They have tremendous tone and playability, but I really recommend purchasing without built-in electronics. Not only does this save about $150, but it also gives great flexibility in regard to choices in electronics. If you don't like the fine texture feel of the Studio models, then take a good luck at the Hybrid models which provide a gloss and hardshell molded case. I love my H-OM1100N2 and miss my H-DR1100N2...

I would say the Rainsong hybrid and studio models. Any less than that, and you're looking at a CA Cargo or an Emerald X7 or X5 (all great guitars).
