Default Rainsong Dreadnoughts

I am wondering if someone in this forum could offer their opinion on Rainsong S-DR1000N2 and RainSong H-DR1100N2. Wondering which I should get. Thanks

Get the H-DR1100N2. For not a whole lot more money you get a molded hardshell case and glossy finish....

My vote would be for the H-DR1100N2 with a K&K Pure Mini. To my ear it is a toss up between the H-DR (closest to a traditional dreadnought tone among the RainSong models) and CO-DR (slightly louder, brighter OOO-like tone, better looking to my eye). The S-DR is very close to the H-DR in tone but I'm not that fond of the textured finish, and if you don't need the barn door controls for gigging, the K&K sounds a bit better and is a paragon of simplicity. Another vote (har!) for both the gloss finish and the acoustic (i.e. no barn door) version.

Rainsong dreadnaughts.....Very nice tone, very well balanced and quite clear. I have a Rainsong Dread AND a Taylor 8xx currently and I would say that the quality, playability and the sound are easily equal.
Hope that helps........

I own a Rainsong DR-1100 Dread for ten years now. I previously also owned the RainSong JM-1000 (jumbo) as well. I sold the Jumbo--it was a great guitar, but I prefered the Dread sound....very full rich clear and easy to play. It is a beautiful guitar with a magic sound all its own. Over the ten years it has never needed work or adjustment, neck never moved, body never affected by either heat or humidity...don't even keep it in the case...its sits out ready to play every day of the year! Dust it once in a while and your good to go! lol! I hightly recommend it. Mine is the solid black carbon fiber...top, back, sides and neck, including fret board. Not sure of the differences of the newer models you are looking at, but mine is winner, in the living room, on the stage, at the beach, or by a hot campfire. It still amazes me how it stays in tune under the most adverse circumstances!
