Another reason to attend the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase...

I just saw that AGF Sponsor, Ben Wilborn (http://wilbornguitars.com/) is having a Charity Raffle at Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase. Ben is donating this handmade Lion model guitar to be raffled for charity by the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase.

The guitar has a sinker redwood top and curly koa back and sides, and is valued at $7100, case included. 100% of proceeds will benefit Family of Woodstock, Inc. and the D'Addario Foundation. Raffle ticket details and where to purchase to be announced shortly. I will update this when see information posted...

Luthier Ben Wilborn, Wilborn Guitars, Reno, Nevada, is donating one of his fine handmade guitars to be raffled for charity at the Ninth Annual Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase, Woodstock, NY, October 29, 2017. 100% of proceeds will benefit Family of Woodstock, Inc. and the D’Addario Foundation.

The guitar, Wilborn Lion #117, has curly koa back and sides; a sinker redwood top; Honduran mahogany neck; Gabon ebony bridge and fingerboard; decorative appointments of Paua abalone, wenge, maple and Mother of Pearl; and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. It is valued at $7100.00 including a superior hardshell case.

Raffle tickets will be limited to 500 only at $25.00 apiece or 5 for $100.00. Raffle drawing will be at 4:30 PM Sunday October 29, 2017, during the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase at the Bearsville Theater, 291 Tinker Street, Woodstock, NY 12498. Entrants need not be present to win. The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase will pay for shipping and insurance to winner within the Lower 48 United States.

Wilborn Guitars Ben Wilborn makes fine handmade acoustic instruments in Reno, Nevada. His own unique designs are very lightly built, simply appointed guitars with an emphasis on extremely refined details and a powerful, balanced sound. Ben says, “I am constantly aware of my good fortune. I spend my days surrounded by beautiful woods, in a comfortable shop, making these challenging and exciting instruments that will be treasured and cherished long after I am gone. It’s been a curvy road to get here, but I will never take my situation for granted. I wanted to share something that reflected my gratitude to my customers, and the world in general - hence the 2017 WILS Charity Guitar Raffle. I hope it benefits many, and proves a faithful companion for whomever it finds a home with!” www.wilbornguitars.com

For anyone that is going, and still needs a hotel room - I just cancelled a room at the Woodstock Inn, so you might want to call them as I think they are otherwise booked. I'm still planning on driving up, but just won't be staying overnight.

Default Two-weeks out

I can’t believe that it is already mid-October. WILS is now less than two-weeks out. I am sure that a number of the 51 luthier/exhibitors are busy finishing up their latest creations getting them ready for you to addition. I will be bringing my ‘017 BRW/German Sexauer 0-12 for Bruce to exhibit (the guitar in this build thread http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=452890) if anyone wants to audition it.

Has anyone else decided to go?

I won't be exhibiting at Woodstock this year, but do plan to come over on Saturday as an attendee. I am looking forward to hanging out and having the chance to see these beautiful instruments without feeling the pressure of being absent from my table.

That’s great John... I suspect that it is infinitely more fun to attend than to exhibit...

I am really excited about going this year. Last year was my first and did not really know what to expect. This year I have that part down and in addition I will get to finally meet some people with whom I know from business dealings and the AGF, but have never met in person. It will be great!

Although I know it will be very crowded, I hope there is time to get to know some folks and play some guitars!

I am like a kid on Christmas eve, I wish it were this weekend...no I guess I don't as I am working all day Saturday this weekend aaaarrrrggghhh, but I think it is appropriate to take a Saturday pay check to Woodstock with me. Why? Because I said so that's why!!!

Hope to see a lot of you there....So many new and fantastic luthiers will be there including the Kinnaird brothers and Mr. Sexauer among many others who have posted their Woodstock builds here in the custom shop. WOOT WOOT!!!

These guys have been under the top shelf radar for way too long. I believe their guitars sound and play as good as anything out there. And they are fun gentlemen to work with, too!

Just my $.02...

Everyone have a ton of fun!

Cheers

If anyone gets a chance to try the Circle Strings guitars, I'd be curious to hear your opinion on them. I rolled the dice with Adam Buchwald a couple of years ago and I love the parlor he built so much I'm diving in for a second round with him. For the base price he's asking, I think his guitars are a steal as far as customs go.
