We must be traveling in the same boat. I considered buying a Taylor 12 fret this week - until I heard about the upcoming RS.

Neko, the bridge is being relocated which means the voice of this new model should be different than the standard OM, until I try it I wont know how it compares to the L13. Stay tuned.

Patti, all Rainsongs come with a 1-3/4" nut, it's what folks seem to prefer so Rainsong is not likely to change that.

Daryl, as far as I can tell the nut and string spacing will remain the same as on the standard models.

I haven't confirmed this with Ashvin but I'm pretty sure like other models they will be offered with the Fishman Prefix Plus T, or without any electronics.

BTW, for now Ashvin is calling this model the "Shorty".

Any guess on price? Will they produce in different "levels", a-la the OM, or just one configuration?

Thanks for the info!

They shooting for a price that is close to the Hybrid models but nothing has been locked in. As for different levels, we will just have to wait and see.

If Rainsong is listening I would love to see a K&K option.

I have K&Ks in my Taylor guitars - love em. However, have never heard a RS with a K&K. How do they sound?

I have never tried a Rainsong with K&K but feedback from clients are quite positive. I doubt you will see a factory installed K&K Mini on a Rainsong but it's not a big deal to have one installed afterwards.

Does an acoustic version RS come from the factory with a plug in the end pin (like Taylor) or would it have to be drilled? I've put a bunch of K&Ks in Taylors - piece of cake. Wouldn't hesitate doing one in a RS, if I don't have to drill a hole in it. Don't trust my old hands.

I had my luthier tech install one for me - he did have to drill the H-DR1100 N2, and went very slowly in reverse to set the bit, and then went super slow to drill the hole. Said it was the hardest material he'd seen, but the hole came out nice and clean with no ragged edges....

I'm fairly certain that it's no more difficult to instal an end pin jack in a Rainsong than it is in a wood guitar but I will check with Ashvin today.
