Default Chord name?

HELP!!!I was talking to a friend of mine about music and for the life of me I couldn't remember what they call a Chord in one position that has multiple chords in that same position,for instance if u setup on a D than remove middle finger u have another chord, than place it back down and add pinky and u have another chord.I know theres a name for it just can't think of it to save my life.....Thanks!

not the actual name of that particular chord but what u are doing, like a movable chord,open chord has names, u know what iam saying?

Umm, I have no idea what you are talking about to be honest. You can barre "open" chords if thats what you mean. So play a D chord with 2nd, 3rd & 4th finger and barre with the first.

A polytonal chord is one that contains two triads, or enough of two different chords to define them (e.g., one of the two could have root or fifth omitted). More narrowly, it would one that contains two triads that are not in the same key. If you are talking about being able to change a chord by lifting or adding a finger, that is not polytonality.
