2021 Santa Cruz 00-Skye SOLD

If you are reading this you probably know Eric Skye -- an exceptional musician and well-known Portland-based guitarist. Eric and Richard Hoover collaborated to design this signature model. Eric still performs and records with the original prototype 00-Skye as his near-exclusive guitar, more than 10 years later.

Specs are below, but two key differences from the standard Santa Cruz 00 are the unique 24.9 inch scale length for ease of playability, and a slightly deeper body for added bass and volume. The result is stunning!

Richard’s description of the Santa Cruz build process: “Every guitar top is graduated and tuned by hand to attain maximum resonance and sustain… By limiting the number of instruments built, we can practice a style of lutherie born from a genuine love of the guitar… We believe that our approach ensures that every Santa Cruz guitar is exceptional. Our intent is to create a uniquely sophisticated instrument that will inspire and challenge its owner throughout a lifetime.”

I received this guitar new in January of 2022 from Soundpure, and have enjoyed it immensely. The sound is immediate while also rich and warm. And it’s truly beautiful -- the Beeswing Cocobolo is three-dimensional, and the Adirondack is top shelf. I love the size, tone, dynamic range, intonation, action, style – really everything about it, except… I need one with a slightly narrower nut to accommodate my small hands and short fingers and so I am buying one from Eric!

This is a special guitar with no issues of any kind. Meticulously cared for. In the right light you can see pick marks on the pick guard, but that’s about it! Most new guitars I play in boutique stores are not in this nice of condition.

Great looking cocobolo.
Eric's proto sure sounds good in on-line clips I've heard and in his Homespun lessons. If my recent hand tremors weren't so bad I'd make an offer on this one.
