Default Martin OM-18 AUTHENTIC "1933"

SALE PENDING **Well...the Tax Man cometh....so...as they say my loss is your gain. This is a Martin OM-18 AUTHENTIC 1933 version. (WITH COOKED TOP!!!) Beautiful guitar. When I found this on line I went to Gruhn's and played 4 of them. They had 3 without a cooked top and 1 with it. The cooked top was the winner HANDS DOWN!!.....it's a great guitar. Nothing major in the way of dings...can't photograph a couple tiny spots. This guitar has the finish that's not quite shiny...if you're interested in this you probably know more about it than I do. I just have too many guitars. Since getting this I've acquired a couple vintage OO-18'S so just need to move this. This is all the guitar anyone could ever need. Will ship to CONT US. Paypaled. $SALE PENDING. Comes with beautiful original case. See video, specs and photo below.

No relationship at all with the seller, but this has one of the most beautiful tops I've ever seen on a guitar. The finish is amazing.

Gorgeous guitar.

I was in Nashville for business a few years ago and made the treck to Gruhn's to kiss the ring. The guy helping me asked if I wanted to play his favorite guitar in the whole store. How do you say no to that? I was expecting him to hand me something vintage and beat up, but he handed over a new OM-18 Authentic shade top.

Whoa.

This is a great price. Best of wishes on the sale.

This is a really good deal! I have one of these guitars and I gotta say that it's extremely nice, easy to play and great tone. Somebody is going to be very happy with this guitar.

One of my two favorite Martins, the other being the short scale version 000-18 Authentic.
These are very hard to beat in every respect.

Just to be clear there IS a truss rod. It is simply non adjustable. The switch to the steel T-Bar was in 1934. The OM-18A 1933 should have an EBONY truss rod. The neck is made stiff with perfect relief and since it is so stiff it translates to better tone. Being so stiff, it won't change more than 0.001" - 0.002" with the change in seasons, therefore there will never be a need to tweak the truss rod as you need to with the current thin necked modern guitars. I have a real 1933 authentic OM-18 and its relief is still perfect at 85 years old. Best of luck with your sale.

The OM-18A 1933 specs on Martin's website do not include the type of truss used, but when this model was first released I believe I read about the use of an ebony rod. An old on-line ad from Elderly with an OM-18A for sale specified the use of an ebony rod.

Todd Phillips' review lists ebony:
