Default Possible trade + cash

With the proceeds from the sale of the Savoy, I plan to buy a Taylor 214ceDLX and Taylor 150e-12 string to leave at my SW Florida winter vacation home...used if I can find good deals in excellent condition, new if not. So although I said I’m not interested in trades, I would consider a trade for those guitars, plus cash. Not really interested in anything else.

One photo shows the pick guard, did you pull it off?

Hi Jerry. Blackbird ships the Savoy with or without the pickguard applied as per customer instruction. For this guitar, the pickguard has never been applied, though it is easy to do so...peel and stick. In the one photo with the guitar lying on the sofa with the pickguard, I just laid it loosely in position.

For those not overly familiar with the Savoy, it has a couple of unique features beyond its proprietary eKoa build material.

First, it has a double-top consisting of layers of eKoa top and bottom with a layer of honeycomb Nomex in-between. This construction gives this O/parlor size guitar a lot of horsepower. Volume is not a problem when playing with larger guitars.

In addition to its center soundhole, it has two soundports. One is in the typical location on the upper bout that didn’t really show up in the pics I took and posted. Here’s a better pic from the Blackbird website...

Although the Savoy has a truss Rod, the neck is hollow with the other soundport on the headstock behind the nut.

With these unique aspects, the guitar is very resonant.

UPDATE regarding the (non)scratches: AGFer (tommyld) who is a fellow Savoy owner just emailed me about what I perceived as scratches. He has given me permission to post his remarks and pic he sent me...

”Mine came new with the same kind of scratch-like things...just a part of their raw/rustic nature and/or they way they are molded. I love my Savoy and can live with the imperfections of the back/sides.”

Hope this clarifies.

I agree. Mine looked similar with strands of fiber looking similar. I think it’s just the way the ekoa is molded.

I thought it might be beneficial to post why I’m selling the Savoy.....

My interest in this smaller guitar was to improve on the tone of my ‘08 CA Cargo which I’ve owned since new and otherwise love, but I’ve cut the Cargo some slack given its small size, etc. with no seemingly better composite guitar options having been offered...until Blackbird introduces the Savoy. I had to try one. It is a definite improvement in terms of a more balanced tone...a little less bass (the Cargo can be bass-heavy), clearer mids and trebles, but it’s a darker tone than this more modern Taylor tone guy prefers. As I’ve said, it has a lot more potential volume than the Cargo, which is really nice.

More importantly for me, when wintering in SW Florida where I am now, I’ve always travelled back and forth with a guitar. However, I’ve decided that I want to buy a guitar to leave here...and the Savoy is too nice and fine a guitar to leave here...I would miss it. So, when I sell it, I’ll be buying a Taylor 214ceDLX to keep here permanently (I have my 814c back home in Canada), and a Taylor 150e 12 string to take back to Canada when we return late April. Plus, I have an Emerald X20 custom on order.

The Savoy gets a lot of love by a number of AGFers who own one and frequent the CF subforum. If you search threads there, this will hold true. Thanks for reading.

Extremely trustworthy seller here. Bought a guitar off of him a few months ago and it was one of the most excellent transactions I've had on this forum.

Great looking guitar, best of luck with your sale!

Thanks benderman! So nice of you to say so. Hope you’re getting everything out of the Chimaera that it has to offer!
