Default SM81 vs Edwina mono/pair

I'm looking into upgrading my amateur recording chain.
I'm using the H5 right now. And want a professional mic for more detail and stage use.
After looking into some great recording mics that are also stage worthy.
These 2 seems to be my favorites.
It will be mainly for solo instrumentals.
I would go for the Edwina if i have the money, as it seems much more sturdy and cool. But I'm not sure if the money increase is really worth it.
There are some great recordings made with it even in mono, and my favorite albums were recorded using LDCs in spaced pair (and they sell them as a matched pair with some discount).
That being said... You could probably find a pair of SM81s for the price of one Edwina.

SM81's hands down for me! I have a pair and would not trade them for anything. Very versatile in the studio and on stage. The ETL mics are gimmicky and mostly for show from my perspective.

I don't have experience with either of the mics you've listed. If you are also considering other alternatives you might want to check out 3 Zigma microphones. Their CHI series allow swappable capsules and they offer various sdc as well as ldc capsules. They are occasionally available used. I've used their cardioid and omni sdc capsules as well as their 47 style ldc, but only for home recording (not stage).

Not exactly a direct comparison... But enough to have some idea:

I think those two videos tell you more about the tonal differences between the 2 guitars and the rooms they're in and very little about the mics.

When we A/B 2 things for comparison, it's important to eliminate all the other variables.

you will never go wrong with a pair of SM81s. They have their reputation for a very good reason.

Unfortunately there is no such comparison to be found...
You can at least hear how much detail each one can pick up.
