New to me taylor 710
So after the guitar sitting in the fedex warehouse since friday night, I finally got it. After playing it for the last 2 hours I must say that while the neck is not what I am used to it is very playable and will be easily to get used to. It is also one of the nicest sounding instruments I have ever played. I played a Collings D2HA 2 weeks ago, and I much prefer the sound of this guitar. I liked the collings neck better but the sound of this guitar is far superior. Incredible! I will play it with the group thursday night for the first time, I can;t wait to hear what it sounds like with the band!

Curious as to why many people say this? I have a 710 and love it, but I would have thought the 810, or 910 would be a better guitar than the 710?

And what does Englemann have over Sitka?

I don't know what Engleman has over sitka, but I will tell you that while not having as much bass as my old Martin HD-28, I think it is superior in everyother way.

It is generally lighter and softer than sitka, which results in more responsive guitar with more volume. Also (if you believe guitars open up), and Englemann top will begin to open up in a shorter time period than Sitka.

My reference of "one of the best dreads ever made" was mainly based on a comparison of some of my previous dreads (2004 Martin D-35, 1994 Gibson J-60 Plus, Late 90's Martin D-15). I've played several other dreads at GC but the 710 made a bigger impression. Its all subjective. |

I just purchased a 710 a few months ago and it is by far has the richest sound out of my modest collection. With the bone saddle, the sustain is insane! The intonation and overtones are also superb - already been through one set of strings! It is sensitive to finger style but forceful when called on.

I'm toying with the idea of a 714 or a 710. I have medium gauge on my Taka EN-10c and it loves them, the real drawback with this git is the laminate back and sides.
Those professing to love the 710, are you using medium gauge? Cheers
