Another Coffeemaker Dies
My most recent coffeemaker died this morning. I don't know how many I have bought in the last several years. If I'm lucky, I get a year out of one. I maintain them and descale but they still die. Had a lot of brands, some expensive some not so much, they all die.
Bought yet another this morning, seems to work OK. Its a single cup type with a mesh filter so I don't have to buy K-cups. See how long it lasts. |

The one I grew to hate still worked when we threw it away (it got dusty beyond my comfort of cleaning and drinking something that went through it). It was a 12-cup coffee pot, with a simply on/off button. No timer, and even worse, no automatic cut-off. I used it for years until I left it on a few times and it just dried up all of the coffee and I had to scrub the pot. I addition, I was afraid I'd end up burning my house down.
We have a 12-cup Wally World special in addition to a Keurig. The 12 cup pot gets used every day. The Keurig gets used when we need that extra "kick" in the afternoons but don't want to brew a whole pot. Works well for us. |

Just went back to a percolator ($25.00 at Target). See how it holds up. I was tired of having the Mr Coffee types only lasting a year or so. Plus, coffee tastes better and is hotter when done.

Had a nice Cuisinart, lasted 10 years, thought that was pretty good. Bought another, we'll see how long this one lasts.
I can't go too cheap, I want a timer and a built in grinder... |

I am really sorry to hear this Harry, I know what a difficult time this can be;
my latest kettle has only been with me for about 2 years now, but is already like the brother I never had. Hope you can soon find a replacement that you can bond with and eventually are able to move on with your life. |

I have 2 Melittas, a small and a large. These are just the basic plastic ones. The small is about 25 years old, the large around 10. I don't leave them on for long periods and I run some cleaner through them once a month or so. May be I'm just lucky.

On my third year of a Mr. Coffee all stainless conventional unit with no problems. Had a large Keurig go out after three years, walked in in to a Bed, Bath, and Beyond, told them I bought it here, and they just motioned me to go pull a new one like it off the shelf. I think Keurig would rather replace units for free and sell you K-cups, than give up on them.
