Default Question for Yamaha L series owners

Looking at my LL6 and noticed both e strings are closer to the edge than my FG. They are not slipping off, but just closer to the edge. I noticed this from my fretting hand muting the high e string. Doesn't do it on FG. Just checking to see if you guys noticed this?

Thanks Jed

The pic with the gold tuner wilbe the LL6 I supposed?

The Low E definitely look way too close to the top edge of the fret board.

The nut should still be the stock plastic one, from the looks of it. Good excuse to change it to a bone nut, while getting a better string spacing.

Yeah, I was thinking same thing. Thanks.

IMHO, older FG's have the strings too far in, making the spacing narrow. That can cause string muting with the fretting fingers.
There is a happy medium between an FG and a guitar with the strings too close to the edge.

Didn't think of it that way, but I agree. I guess as long as nothing is slipping over the edges, no harm.... Maybe suppose to be that way.

Bear in mind that the 'L' series have a 1 3/4" nut as opposed to the 1 11/16" of the FG, which might confuse the issue. But yes, I think the spacing over the 'board is slightly greater with the 'L'.

This is your answer.
Leave it the way it is and enjoy the guitar.

the spacing between the E and A strings appears to be wider than the rest,

I think they did'nt get this one quite right. Good opportunity to fit a better nut, Come to think of it, every Yam I've ever had has had the nut replaced, usually for the opposite reason, the string spacing being too crowded

You are right. The spacing is a little wider between those strings. I will get it replaced in the future some time when my skill improves and I can enjoy a nicer setup. Thanks

Yes, both my 'L' guitars have similar spacing to that shown above. I really like the LL6, by the way. Must get another one day!
