Default Hey LeftArm

Sounds great. Is that one of Toby's packages? Which one?

It's from Toby's Police dog Blues lesson.

Nice job there LeftArm in spite of your 'injury.' You nailed that little pull off quite well. Keep listening to Blake for inspiration as he really swings that piece.

Hi Jim,

The only thing I can add to that quote... and it's a good one... is too keep at it every day. It's like laying bricks - one at a time and before you know it you've got one heck of a castle to be proud of.

Have finally wired "Oh Susanna" into my fingers, and felt an actual physical chill the first time I played it through at speed and on rhythm purely from memory

Love hearing that! It's funny how it all connects seemingly overnight. It's as if your fingers are saying.... 'Oh... NOW I get it!'

Yep... as I always say... keep at it and it will all come together.

I just ordered two single lessons, can't wait to get them and get started. I purchased Deep River Blues and Long Tall Mama.

Wow, I downloaded and I looked over everything I got from Toby. I'm in blues heaven.

Here's half of Deep River Blues. I'm having a bit of a problem with just two chord forms in the second half, I should have the whole thing good in a week or so:

I love this blues stuff!

TBman, nice job. I have this same song from Toby and really enjoy playing it. One of those chords is a finger stretcher for sure.

Thanks John! The one that gets me is the most is the xx643x in the 9th measure. My pinky keeps forgetting where to go, sometimes it goes on the 5th string, other times the 3rd, lol. The next measure isn't as bad but this time its my middle finger on the 5th string 4th fret that messes up sometimes, goes to wrong string sometimes too. I'll get there. They are easy chords, its just that I rarely play them.

Sounds good TBman and Leftarm!

We should all start posting samples of ourselves playing Toby's lessons. Good to get feedback and show what we've accomplished. I'll see if I can get one or two up this week.

I'm still splitting time between these lessons and other material, but really enjoying Toby's stuff.

Thanks Adam! I'm looking forward to hearing you play!

I figured out why I'm stumbling on measure 9 of part 2 of Deep River Blues, I'm also setting up the ring finger for its role in measure 10, and I was trying to lay the whole thing down at once, but laying two fingers one behind the other on the same string was causing my guitar brain to short circut, so I'm just fretting the first 3 fingers on the first beat of the measure, then dropping in the pinky after that. Its a lot better now. So now I have to "unlearn" the mess I was making with it,

Very nice! I have learned some of Doc's version and it's a finger buster. I need to get back to it as I love this tune. Will have a look at Toby's lesson.
