Default Musician's Friend - Any experience buying?

Currently they are offering 15% off. I could save $400 on a D-18 over buying it from Sweetwater. They look reputable. Has anyone bought from them?

Also, when picking one, is the weight significant for how the guitar might sound?

I've never had an issue with Musicians Friend, but I've never bought a guitar from them. What I like about Sweetwater is that I have my own assigned rep who has been very helpful over the years. If I were interested in a guitar I know I could ask him to personally play through a couple for me and select the best one. Not sure I could do that with Sweetwater.

Another company that I've had a good personal experience with is Alto Music in NY. Not sure if they would match the price, but maybe. I know that there are reps there that will also inspect individual guitars as they want satisfied customers, not returns.

Good luck.

I would check with one of our sponsors. Musicians Friend is Guitar Center. Who knows what they will ship you. And if you look at the small print on your 15% off coupon it doesn’t include Martin

Interesting. I called them and they quoted me $2090 on a D-18. President's Day Sale he said till 2/21.

Looks like you can pick the guitar/serial# you want from 360 high res photos. Just like Sweetwater.

You can do a lot better than $2090 from the forum sponsors, like under 1900 on the d-18 from a very reputable dealer.

I believe it, however I doubt I can do 0% financing with them.

Yep...for sure. Better price and much more personal customer care.

Never bought an acoustic, but a bunch of other stuff, including my Loudbox mini. I'd remember to check with a few Forum Sponsors first...they've got unadvertised deals

Yup. My 516e came from them. No issues with that purchase.

Have also purchased from Sweetwater a couple of times. Great service and follow up.

I have made so many purchases from them over the years that it is scary! If you buy, sign up for Backstage Pass first and get 8% bonus credit back.

Default MF

I have purchased several guitars from MF.
EVERY ONE was a great transaction!
One can choose from a large inventory of a particular model - lots of HD pics as well as individual weights of each instrument.
AND......0% financing.
If you call the Private Reserve line, you can get very knowledgeable customer service reps.
AND.....there is a 45 day return policy!

To those detractors who commented to the post, I would guess they have an axe to grind.
IMHO

If you can get Sweetwater to price match it then go with them as the two day shipping is free and mf it's not.
Both have been great to me for years and as stated the site sponsor list is very helpful. You cannot go wrong with any of the site sponsors.

MF is one of the best of the large online retailers.

I have bought many guitars and all sorts of gear through the years..

Quick Free shipping and Liberal return policy.

Yes.. Sign up for the back stage pass.. Get 8% back in the form of store credit. Which you can use for something else down the road.
