Amazingly enough, for me, I am actually working on a tricky acoustic guitar piece to try and master it. It's working. I'm not spending much time on any one day, but every time I pick it it's a little better. Good feeling!

This is the piece, probably my favourite Bert Jansch arrangement - at the moment:

Of course, I know that even when I can play it accurately, it will be another few months before I sound as relaxed as that...

And then there'll be the singing to work on...

Working on "Across The Universe". First matching it pretty close to the original/popular version. Now, without changing the lyrics, I'm making it my own to suit my expressions...

Perdido. Not sure why, but I have a fake book open on my music stand and it was open and Perdido was on the page so I am playing it. Very bouncy little tune, nothing to it really, but based on II-V's in the A section and a useful cycle of fourths in the B section. Key of Bb.

Just general playing, along with vocal and breathing exercises... preparing for a gig tomorrow night, so it's all about being comfortable and at-ease with my instruments and voice. I'll also "peruse" my extensive song list to see if anything leaps out at me to play, or to find songs that I love that haven't been "in circulation" of late...

I'm working on finger picking a waltz. And not slide into 4/4 time. I can do it easily with a flat pick but with finger picks it will take a little more work. I have been learning and playing that country rag/blues/jazz fingerstyle guitar and loving it.

Peace

I'm working on getting to a family spaghetti supper so that I am a more complete person when I pick up the guitar tomorrow.

I'm working on a set list for a show at a retirement facility. A few of the folks I jam with are volunteering our time. It's our first but hope that it will become a regular thing.

Cleaning up "Since We Met". Been struggling with this one for a month or two now. Also, "Windy and Warm", "Trambone" and relearning "Freight Train" to get a little closer to the Tommy E. version. I like his changes. Fooling around with blues in "E" improvisation to make my transitions smooth and seamless. Focus on anticipating where the changes will be and hitting them without dropping a beat. Combining chord changes with lead licks back and forth. Breaking out the metronome so I don't have to do my own counting.

Learning to play harmonics all over the fingerboard and incorporate that into something musical and lovely.

I am working on the basic version of Bryan Sutton's "Turkey in the Straw" getting used to keeping the arm moving and finding a groove with the metronome. Picking down AND up swings.

Tonight, so I don't drive myself nuts just practicing one song I worked on Kishibe's "Miracle Mountain." One of the changes was a little sticky so I went on a tangent making up noodles with the chord in it.
