Exclamation Help! I need a song to play for my sister's wedding!

Hi everyone, thanks for reading my call for help. My brother, cousin, and I are going to play (3 guitars) a song at my sister's wedding (before the procession). I'm in charge of picking an arranging the song, but I don't know too many wedding friendly instrumentals. The intro to "Love Song" by Tesla just won't do. I was thinking of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, but they are using that song in the wedding already.

I like the idea of a classical tune, does anyone have any suggestions along that line?

Thank you all so much, I (and my sister) appreciate it.

Paul

How about The Beatles song; In My Life? I gather it's somewhat popular for weddings. Laurence Juber did a great arrangement which is in the latest Fingerstyle magazine.

It might be a nice counterpoint to the classical piece already being played.

Well, our wedding song was "Here, There and Everywhere" by the Beatles. Or, how about "The Wedding Song".

Is there to be any singing, or just the 3 of you playing guitars?

Thanks folks, keep 'em coming, I'll be checking them all out as the wedding gets closer.

I am currently learning "Remember When" by Alan Jackson.

I plan on singing it at my daughters wedding. It is a song that covers a lifetime.

for instrumental, "Canon in D", by Pachelbel is a good one. you'll have to be a decent player to do this one, which i'm assuming you are. this is a beautiful piece of music.

if yer gonna sing, "Love Will Keep Us Alive", by The Eagles is a good one. sorta high, so you may have to lower it a bit.

good luck....

hey, go to

www.halleonard.com

do a search in the Guitar Base Fretted section on "wedding"

there's a book called "Wedding Classics - Fingerstyle Guitar"...it's HL inventory # is 00699185...it has both the Emin and Emaj parts of the popular tune Romanza in it (simple and pretty)...Pachelbel's Canon in D, Ave Maria, etc....

you DO NOT have to be a virtuoso to play these tunes in general...

don't know what you'd work up with multiple guitars...

in the same Fingerstyle Series they have another book called Contemporary Christian Wedding Songs or something like that (don't have it...don't know if it's a Christian wedding....just pointing out it's in the same series and probably of the same difficulty level - not too difficult)

in the same fingerstyle series there's a book called Let It Snow - Fingerstyle Guitar (HL inv # 699206 or 00699206)....it's holiday tunes...

but...

in that book there is a simple (!) but very pretty (!) tune called Hymne....it used to be on a wine commercial or something...has a romantic sound..it's very recognizable....

again, it's a fingerstyle arrangement for one guitar as written... but you could work something up....that tune has a particular flow that would lend itself well to more than one guitar actually...

there's other books there, too...

?

how are you doing on lures???????????????

you might also want to check out

www.lewalt.com

under "Collections - General Fingerstyle" (or something like that) he has a couple of collections of wedding tabs...

?

good fishing in Idaho I would guess....

RING ON MY HAND (with Lucy Kaplansky) 3:08

Darryl Purpose & Robert Morgan Fisher ©1997

I awoke from my sleep, ''Twas the first day of living and a fresh dew lay light o'er the land I put on my shirt, pulled up my sleeve and look... there's a ring... on my hand

Where before both my arms had been wildly flailing For the want of a worthy command They now hung by my side, Both steady and sure Can't you see... there's a ring... on my hand

So I walked up to the table, And I took my seat For it seemed that the feast was prepared And the loveliest person, That I've ever known Sat in the opposite chair

I've lived alone and the silence was deafening Out of fear of the ancients' bold plan Now I hear my heart beat, in the breast of another And look... there's a ring... on her hand

This ring surrounds our doubt, breaks it down, kicks it out leaving two words spoke in this circle unbroken Imagine all that we can do with someone to Keep you and love you forever

Now I hear my heart beat, in the breast of another And look... there's a ring... on my hand

Check out this link for a short soundbite of this song. It would make a great wedding song.
