Default Need Software for Tablature and Chords!

Right now, I am creating TAB and Chord Table Sheets with MS Word (in Table format), and writing the positions and lyrics in by hand for my students. It is tedious and looks terrible. I want to buy a software program that will enable me to place the TAB numbers and Chord positions ON THE LINES!!! (and maybe even the actual notes!)

Does anyone here have any suggestions for guitar/music composition software?? Thanks!

I use Band-In-A-Box to do lead sheets (chords only) and it works very well. It has several printout options, but leadsheets is all that I've used. It will display and print TAB, but I have not tried entering any. I have also tried the Finale Guitar free download and have found it very hard to use without a book. So I can't offer rmuch insight on it. Then there is TABLEDIT for TAB which may be the best of the three for TAB.

Check out Power Tab http://www.power-tab.net/ - it works well and is free.

Also check out Musedit - inexpensive (compared to Finale or Sibelius) but full of useful features.

Check out the programs in the Sibelius line, which I believe now includes a cheaper guitar tab program, the Finale/Allegro series from Coda Music and Tabledit.

Thanks so much, everyone, for all your help in this thread, and my other one in Now Hear This. I now have several websites to research and choose from!!! I knew I could count on forum members to help me with this!

I second Band in a box.

That program ROCKS.

Also, any free programs like Guitar pro, Tab-pro, and Tabledit work well.

go to google.com, search for "Guitar Tab Programs," and see what you get.... might be able to get some great programs that even us members havn't used.
