Default A night in guitar heaven...and and a big surprise

A couple of nights ago Jan Stovicek from BSG Guitars dropped by on his way to the Hamburg guitar festival along with some wonderful guitars . I got to play some really nice OM side by side...and was surprised big time. I played an EIR/Spruce, a Mahogany/cedar and a Maple/spruce OM. I have to say that in the last couple of years I have been mainly drawn to Rosewood guitars and currently play 2 Cocobolo guitars.
To my surprise I favored the maple/spruce OM - it had a very articulate bass with a pronounced midrange, nice trebles, good sustain and wonderful string separation. I never expected maple to sound that good on an OM !
