TWO LEFT - D-35, PRS Private Stock SANTANA II
It's time to get serious in my effort to thin the herd. I've sold one or two here and there but I always seem to be able to justify picking up something new as soon as one goes. So now it's time to let some go in bulk.
In this collection there is a D-35 adorned with alleged signatures of several legendary players, one solid Breedlove that can be left out in the corner for anytime picking, three travel guitars - two brand new GS Mini's in Hog and Koa (with electronics) and a brand new CA Cargo Raw with electronics - and finally an unreal PRS Private Stock Santana II that is going to go because I can never bring myself to take it off the wall to play for fear of putting a mark on it. So here they are in no particular order with links to the Reverb listing for each: - 1996 Martin D-35 with supposed signatures of Les Paul, David Crosby, Martin Barre, Steve Howe and Steve Hackett. I make no claim that the signatures are real but they look authentic . . . The guitar is in excellent condition, especially for a 20 year old guitar and sounds wonderful. https://reverb.com/item/5709149-mart...we-and-hackett $1750 including shipping plus paypal for AGF members - [SOLD non-AGF] 2017 Taylor GS Mini Mahogany (no electronics). Purchased this year from GC. Mint condition. Practically never played. https://reverb.com/item/6610559-tayl...y-2017-natural $xxx shipped plus paypal for AGF members - [SOLD non-AGF]2017 Taylor GS Mini-e Koa. Purchased this year from Ted at LA Guitar Sales. Mint condition. Practically never played. https://reverb.com/item/6610658-tayl...a-2017-natural $xxx shipped plus paypal - [SOLD non-AGF]2017 Composite Acoustics Cargo Raw (with electronics). Purchased this year from Ted at LA Guitar Sales. Mint condition. Practically never played. https://reverb.com/item/6611452-comp...17-black-matte $xxxx shipped plus paypal. - 2008 Breedlove Retro D/ER. Great value solid top and back guitar (but apparently laminate sides) from Breedlove "created in Korea." Set up by Appalachian Bluegrass a few months ago with new bone nut and saddle. Excellent condition with just pick marks on pick guard and a couple of light marks on the back. Marked "2nd" on the label but no discernible issues anywhere. Perfect guitar for someone who wants to try out the dreadnaught size and tone. Much better than entry-level quality for entry-level price. https://reverb.com/item/6611173-bree...-natural-gloss $375 shipped plus paypal for AGF members - 2004 PRS Private Stock Santana II. Here is the description provided to me directly from Sean Littleton at PRS: "This violin amber burst Santana II Private Stock guitar was designed and handmade by Joseph Knaggs, Dave Hazel, Dana Seidman, Paul Miles and me [Paul Reed Smith]. The woods, including a west coast quilted maple top, South American mahogany back and neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, headstock veneer, and truss rod cover were carefully picked from my private stock for sound and remarkable figure. Other features, such as mammoth ivory Private Stock eagle and bird inlays with 14-karat gold outlines and Santana OM symbol on the truss rod cover add to this guitar’s special appeal. Specifications are as follows: Serial Number: 4-84549 Private Stock # 621 WOODS: Neck: South American mahogany Fingerboard: Brazilian rosewood Top: West coast quilted maple Back: South American mahogany (figured) Headstock Veneer: Brazilian rosewood COLOR/STAIN: Violin amber burst INLAY: Mammoth ivory with 14-karat gold outlines PICKUPS: Treble: Santana Bass: Santana ELECTRONICS: Santana II HARDWARE: Anodized gold PRS straight bridge, gold locking mini tuners SET-UP: .009’s – 2 – 2 1/3 SPECIALS: Violin amber burst finish, mammoth ivory inlays with 14-karat outlines and Santana OM symbol on the truss rod cover." This guitar is in just less than mint condition because there is one barely perceptible mark on the top. Ridiculous tone palette and endless sustain. Can't believe I'm letting it go but it really should be played. One of you guys or gals are better suited to make it sing than I am. https://reverb.com/item/5708821-paul...04-maple-burst $5850 shipped plus paypal for AGF members. just a heads up, I'm reasonably certain the Breedlove was not made in 'Korea, Democratic People's Republic of'...that's North Korea)

Thanks for pointing that out. I typed "Korea" and it looks like it auto filled the field. I'll correct it shortly.

Is the Breedlove all solid? I could be wrong but I think these had laminate sides, solid front and back.

I just checked the Breedlove site and here is what it says about this guitar: "The Breedlove Retro Series D/ER is a Pre-war style dreadnought model instrument with solid Engleman spruce top, solid rosewood back, ivoroid binding with top purfling, BWB rosette and an L.R. Baggs Stage Pro and Element Active pickup system with volume and tone."
When I read that before posting this guitar for sale, I obviously read it too quickly and didn't pick up that the construction of the sides was omitted from the description. Given, that, I am happy to admit likely error and assume that the sides are indeed laminate. Also that I don't recall seeing a guitar made out of solid front and back but laminate sides . . . Thanks to windsorc for catching that and pointing it out. The reverb listing will be corrected momentarily. |

Three more to go - I know someone wants that GS Mini and the D-35 is Killer, whether you like the signatures or not . . .

The GS Mini - Hog went over the weekend (not on AGF) so now down to two stellar guitars. Reasonable offers are welcome and will be seriously considered. Have a great week.
