The guitar is sold!

This is a wonderful example of an early Breedlove. When the company was young and only building a few hundred or so a year. As noted, Steve Henderson signed the label on this one. Breedlove aficionados recognize his instruments as some of, if not the finest instruments ever produced by Breedlove.

This particular instrument features a Sitka spruce top, and nicely figured myrtlewood back and sides. The neck is maple, with a beautiful ebony fingerboard and bridge. The myrtlewood back and sides sound reminiscent of rosewood, with a touch of the immediacy of koa. This is a fantastic sounding and playing instrument. Action is very low, with absolutely no buzzing, whether fingerpicked or strummed aggressively.
It has a internal microphone installed, though I'm not certain of the manufacturer. It does have a 9V battery, so it is an active pickup.
There are a couple of dings in the finish, and sometime in its life it had a collision on the lower treble side bout as shown in the picture. Nothing that affects sound or playability. The price reflects the small amount of cosmetic damage, and it's priced to sell quickly!

I had an SJ25 in Spruce over Walnut that was a spectacular instrument, also built by Steve Henderson just before he left Breedlove.

I can't say enough about the build quality, tone and playability of these instruments.

I have a Breedlove of similar vintage and size that also was built by Steve Henderson back in the day - except mine has walnut back and sides. Breedlove guitars have evolved over the years to the point where the various lines are easily confused. That's unfortunate because the American-made Breedlove guitars from the mid-sixties are hard to beat. The price for the guitar being offered here strikes me as quite a nice bargain.

I'm curious, do these early models use the 'Bridge Dr' truss system in them?
