PLAY guitar...
Just a reminder for those who have forgotten, playing means having fun ! It's not work or torture.

Great post! It's easy to forget that when trying to learn a challenging piece

Well said. If it feels like work, you're doing it wrong.
Of course, it's OK to tell everyone else "I'm really putting a lot of work into learning guitar" - they'll nod sagely and admire you - but you know secretly you're having fun...

Playing guitar is fun for sure! So is practicing guitar too
I view practicing guitar as having my mind engaged with my fingers, where I am having to think and be constantly aware of the various mechanics required to play what it is I am working on. Playing is the opposite. I am not thinking, hopefully not anyway, and reaping the rewards of all my hard work I have done in the practice room. It's where I can let go and let everything that I have been working on come out in my playing. If it doesn't happen then I know I just need to continue working with it in my practice |
