Finger pattern, I'm trying to get it, "Mary did you Know" song .. help

I was listening to a Christmas song "Mary did you Know" .. it is on u tube, sung by a number of different people..

Here is my question. I have the lyrics, tab.. what I am struggling with is the break down, the patterns..

How do you work out a pattern if you listen to it, and you have the lyrics and chords?

The way I pick will depend on the time signature/ rhythm and also tempo of the piece. I just googled the tune and it seems to be in 4 4 time at a fairly moderate tempo. Without actually having a guitar in my hands I imagine one bass note followed by three arpeggio notes twice in one bar, all eighth notes. Something like this;

thanks... yes, that is how it seems to me 4/4 time.

I will give that a go.

I hate tab.. but it is free.. Music/sheet music cost $$$

Its a beautiful song.. of course, my voice does not do it justice..
