I'm re-reading the Harry Potter series. Haven't read them since they first came out and I was a kid. Currently on The Goblet of Fire. Rowling not only created a fascinating world, she's also a good writer...something I didn't appreciate on the first go round.

Once you've rested your brain from reading about that brutal slog through Italy, you should read Guns at Last Light, assuming that you first read An Army at Dawn. The Atkinson trilogy is a must read for those interested in our nation's struggle for victory in WWII.

Year One by Nora Roberts. An apocalyptic story that is well told.

I'm having a Beatle phase (I go through one every few years). Having recently read Philip Norman's biographies of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, I'm trying this more lightweight fare:
Did you know that if you wanted a copy of Sgt Pepper, signed by all four Beatles, and if you could find one, it would likely set you back about $300,000? That's a lot of guitars.

A couple of months ago I read Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. I was so impressed I've read about 5 or 6 more by him including one where he writes like P G Wodehouse and a James Bond novel where he of course writes like Ian Fleming.
Just wondering in the Day of the Battle does the author go into why Clark made a run for Rome instead of sealing off the German Army?
