A cheap guitar made better
I purchased this Jay Turser full hollow archtop used for not much money. I then upgraded the pots and changed out the cheap pickups for some Seth Lovers. Man, she really sounds great, and looks great too!

That looks awesome! Congrats. I found a Epiphone Dot Deluxe VS in a pawn shop that grabbed me with feel of it's neck. No need for it, no room for it, but for $200, come on! I could not pass it up.
While it actually sounded very good in stock form,I replaced the pickups with a set of Ibanez Super 58's that had been hanging around for years. In terms of tone and playability, it compares very favorably with other semi's I've had. That includes a sweet 1967 ES-335, 1981 Ibanez AS-200 and several Guild Starfires from the late 60's. It's a good time to be a guitar player! |

I'm sure the Seth Lovers really make that Turser shine. Enjoy!

Thanks guys! I wanted to add that I use Tony Rice Monel light gauge acoustic strings on this guitar. The result is a fabulous tone for rhythm. Very acoustic sounding when I want it to be.

Looks like a lot of us are on the same page. Four years ago, after extensive research, I bought an Epi Dot Deluxe VS for the sole purpose of upgrading the electronics (the hardware is fine). Replaced all the electronics, which were pretty decent, with a BCS vintage wiring kit and SD Antiquities. Wow!
I grin from ear to ear every time I play this $700 guit. |
