Default aspiring Luthier

Hi. I just moved to Richmond, Virginia and am seeking a new Mentor. I've finished half a dozen instruments, and am halfway through a half-dozen more. I like Acoustic mostly, especially smaller guitars, and early music too.

Hello Ted and welcome to the AGF
I sure wish you were closer to Vermont. I would enjoy a young partner in the shop.

I'm on the other side of the state. Welcome to the forum. Where did you move from?

I am glad for you. You are off to a good start.

I would like to see someone make 100 rosettes in advance for times when I get a phone call for custom rosettes. I tell people we only make rosettes for McKnight guitars. I would like to have a website or facebook account to forward them to. I get calls frequently for us to build rosettes for upcoming luthiers. At Woodstock a couple came to me asking questions abut guitars. I took a little time to encouraged them to push to make parts and pieces for practice first. If an upcoming luthier has a few to look at they might be willing to buy from them.

I noticed the couple has no samples, but they did get a FB site called "Rosettes are us." Hey, it's a start! I heard from the wife just the other day. It seems they have decided this is something they will put on the back burner for now.

If you know someone who is interested in making a rosette website contact me so I can post your site close to my phone. (Thanks)

Hi. Thanks for the replies. I just moved from West Virginia , where there weren't any builders. Before that I lived in South Carolina where my mentors were David Jones and Derwin Hudson....both were excellent builders and teachers!

I envy you. Good luck in your chosen path as a luthier. I wish I had a life to live again, I'd do that for sure!

The photo needs to be posted on the internet to begin with. FB, photobucket, whatever... Then, click the small yellow and grey icon like a photo above the message writing pane (to the right of the text editting icons like bold, italic, left, center, right, etc), then you'll be able to enter the link to the photo you have on the net, and your photo will appear in your post.

We use android tablets at my house. If you install Opera or Firefox, you should be able to copy the URL without much problem. (Put cursor into the search/url bar, long-hold your finger in the bar, then you should be able to copy it.)
