Amazing Grace
Hola Amigos:
I have finally done it. My arrangement for "Amazing Grace" is, at last, in print both as TAB/notation and/or just music notation. Here is the video, for which I have received hundreds of requests for the printed arrangement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wuDelXAJ7M What took so long? Transcribing a performance that one basically improvised once and never played again is HARD. I knew it would take 40 hours.........It actually took 80. But it's really good. You can order it here: http://www.michaelchapdelaine.com/arrangements.html Happy Trails, Mike C |

Thanks for making this arrangement available, Mike. What tuning is called for? I always enjoy your music, but you certainly bring out the best in that McKnight Diamond you're playing in the Youtube clip.

Thanks very much Cotton!
It's almost standard except, all strings are down a whole step, then drop 5th another, and 6th down a major third. So you play as if your in C Major but Bb sounds. d-a-f-c-f-Bb. So, you have the tonic and the 4th of the key open on 6th and 5th. Works great. And I think the guitar is pitched to high anyway. It makes the melodies almost always in a soprano range. This changes that significantly. Have to use big strings though. I use a .013-.056 set. That may not seem all that big, but with a lot of polyphony it adds up. And I'm not 28 anymore. |
