Default Uke buzz

My C string started buzzing (on open note only) last time I was rehearsing with others. At first the buzz sounded like it was coming from the body, so Iundid the preamp (It's a Luna a/e Tatoo model), but could find nothing loose anywhere. Put the preamp back in, and discovered that its actually the tuneing peg - causing the buzz to amplify though the neck to the body. I unstrung it, and the tuner is not loose, or any of its components loose, I restrung and its still doing it. If I squeeze the tuner between thumb and forefinger (screwgear on back to tip) the buzz goes away.
Any ideas?

My wife has a Luna Maluhia, and it's a sweet uke except for the tuners, which had enough loose play to make tuning a little frustrating. There was no buzz, but if you have the same problem with tuning, the tuner may be the source of your problem. I replaced the Luna's stock tuners with Grover Sta-Tites (a straight fit, about $14 from Stewmac) and that took care of the problem, so you might want to give that a try.
