Default Jam Man 2-pedal

I've never used a looper before and am trying to figure out this Jam Man 2 pedal looper.. I followed all the instructions in the "quick start" guide, have a mic plugged into the mic jack, an acoustic/electric guitar is in the instrument jack, my output is going to an amp. The guitar is coming through the amp just fine. I set the loop level in the 9 oclock position, set the loop selector knob to an empty slot, press the REC/Play/ Overdub pedal and start playing the guitar. But when I press the pedal again, I'm getting no loop coming from the amp. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Couple thoughts
First while technically speaking a looper does "record" the loop and this is the record forum
You are much more likely to get informed suggestions involving a looper pedals over in either
The Electric Guitars or Acoustic Amplification Forums as more people with looping knowledge will be frequenting those forums

That said I looked at the manual Quick Start

And assuming you are ::
#1 connecting the looper to the amp via coming out of the left Mono output to amp input ..
#2 you press the record/dub switch for the first time (LED's show red ) you record your loop and press the record/switch again (LED's show green) in which case the loop should be playing back

If not then something is likely wrong/defective

Either the amps input is bad (check by going direct guitar to amp)

The looper to amp cable is bad (try different cable direct gtr to amp )

So if both the amp input and the cable work direct

Then it is something in the looper
Could be some internal routing thing you have inadvertently done or not done
or worse case the left mono output on the looper is bad

OP, Kevwind offers good advice but do be aware that most loopers can be set to one of two different operation modes. See manual for explanation of these modes and the "hidden" way to set the preference.

The operation modes determine what the looper does when pushing the loop button.
