Default PSA Pro Tools 2023.12 brings Atmos and I/O color coding

I don't do Atmos But I like The new Color coding on the I/O
Also it seems to me the sessions load faster

However I discovered one draw back, and that is the color coding on the Busses does not retain with I/O settings
The Input and Output color coding retains but not the Busses

Here is the New 2023.12

Can you change the buss color manually?

I don’t think I like color coding on the I/O. Maybe I’m just used to not having it but it makes me panic for a second whenever I see it.

I will probably turn it off in a day or so.

It's really awesome! I'm loving the update.

It makes it so easy to see routing on huge projects (especially the audio post stuff that gets to be hundreds of tracks).

I'm also enjoying the simplified Atmos setup. Much simpler than having to do inter-app routing to the Atmos Production Suite.

And the new multiple marker rulers is huge for audio post projects too.

Yes you can change all the I/O colors manually just like track colors (I don't think there is a default I/O color scheme but would have to check) So for example all the colors you see in my second colored example above, are ones I manually selected from the I/O color pallet

Now as I noted the (Buss) colors will retain on that session once you set them, so for example they are retained in your user templates once you open and select them and then "Save as template"

But they (the buss colors)will not transfer to any older previous sessions you may open,
where as the Input and Output path colors do ?? Not a big deal just kinda weird

Then also one has to consider some other factors. For example I am really big on consistency in my naming and colors scheme.
Which is why all my busses and sends and outputs are named the same as the tracks they route to -- But that represents a bit of a compromise

For example on the left side where the Buss color for the outputs of my left and right A Ry Gtr tracks is light blue, like the track color itself so that output button on those track blends in where previously with out the color feature it was silver. But the trade off is, it shows instantly on the charcoal color of the folder track it routes to.
Same with the 2 Mix Buss shows on the folder track but blends in on the 2 Mix tracks input itself
So did decide to contrast my mic Inputs to make them stand out more
Over all though I am liking the feature

PSA on Buss colors transferring to previous sessions

OK Got it solved by a nice fellow over on the DUC and it was user error

In order to get the new Buss color coding to show up in an old session you have to Set up one session and then in the I/O window on that session you have to select Export Settings Then when you open an old session you have to delete the Buss paths in that session, and then import the new Settings I/O pio. into that session (My bad I was not deleting the old buss paths first )

Now obviously it works easier if like me, you alway have the same buss paths/names from session to session .
