Default Anyone know the name of this tune?

I learned this tune way back in the late 70's, when I was trying to teach myself squareneck Dobro, The actual name of the tune, and the artist who originally performed it, are lost to the sands of time. It's probably morphed quite a bit since I learned the original, but if anyone recognizes it, I'd sure appreciate the name and artist.

Hmmmm. I know Doc's version of "Sittin' on Top of the World". Listening to the solo that begins at 1:08, I'm having trouble seeing the similarity between the two pieces. Not saying it isn't there, since both of you agree...I just don't think that's it, since I know that as a separate piece.

The hunt continues. I believe the piece originally came on one of those acetate floppy records that used to be supplied with the old Oak Publications books for learning Dobro (I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Stacy Phillips "Dobro Book"...I think the book I had went out of print a long time ago). Of course it was written for Dobro, and meant to be played completely with a steel.

By the way, thanks for the complements!

That was great! Sounds like Big Bill Broonzy's Sittin' On top of the world to me.

Default Finally figured it out!

After a lot of searching around, I found the table of contents for Stacy Phillips' "The Dobro Book" online, and just started searching YouTube for the titles of each of the tabs that were in the book.

It turns out that this piece is based on Leroy Carr's "How Long Blues", except I've somehow included a bridge that didn't exist in the original. No idea were that part came from.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

JM, glad you solved your riddle! Your contribution, the bridge, sounds good and fits right in. Very nice playing!

Thanks for the complement. Now that I've figured out what song this is, I can't believe how many diverse covers of it I'm finding, from Clapton to the Grateful Dead. I'll give the Hot Tuna version a listen.
