dadgad
I have recenlty been playing around with DADGAD tuning, but I can't seem to find any good (yet quite simple) songs to learn. They seem to go from one extreme (too easy) to the other (insane...).
Does anyone know some good catchy tunes that I can try to learn on DADGAD or similar alternative tunings. |

Pete Huttlinger has a cool DADGAD version of Sting's "Fields Of Gold" in his "The Peter Huttlinger Collection" songbook.

Not sure what degree of "simple" you're looking for, but I have a tab of Larry Pattis' arrangement of "Waltzing Matilda" in my signature

Al Petteway's "Waltz For Rebecca" is a good one too.
Here's a really good rendition of it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtll8wP760g

Yeah, Waltz for Rebecca would be a good one as it sounds nice and is easy.
Here is the tab: http://dcoombsguitar.com/Guitar%20Mu...er/Rebecca.pdf http://dcoombsguitar.com/Guitar%20Mu...er/Rebecca.ptb A recording I did some time ago. http://dcoombsguitar.com/Guitar%20Music/Rebecca.wav

Phil Keaggy's "County Down" is in DADGAD, excellent song and not too difficult to play. The tab is in his most recent book released earlier this year.

County Down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIN_7Fnksqs Great piece.
I'm not sure I'd classify it as simple!

I am SO loving this thread! Walzing Matilda and Walz for Rebecca both have me pretty excited. The other arrangements posted here will probably be great too - I just haven't heard them yet.
I have a few more to contribute: See http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...6&postcount=37 for a nice arrangement (two actually) of Amazing Grace And see this post for links to some wonderful arrangements by Doug Young. His Shenandoa arrangement is not too hard to play (he has tablature for it on his web site) but it is really beautiful: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...9&postcount=27 |

Here's where you can see/hear me play the rendition of Waltzing Matilda that Mak has (and you can get it from me, as well):
