For all you classical guys-tremelo
I'm trying to learn Agustin Barrios-"Una Limosnita por el amor del dios" and I'm trying to figure out the tremelo technique. I don't usually play with fingernails so that could be my problem but I would like to know if there is a good way versus a bad way to going about learning tremelo. I can get it somewhat going and play but when I'm playing I start hitting the second string with my index finger or I start playing the tremelo much softer. I know it's all practice but I want to know if there is a right way to going about playing as I don't want to get into a bad habit now.
Thanks guys Jeff |

The technique is pretty easy once you figure it out and the nice thing is once learned you won't likely forget it (like riding a bicycle).
However I play with short nails so I can't say just how well bare fingers will work - probably ok though. I also play ami rather than imp which for me is much easier and faster. I knew there would be videos on the internet and here are a couple that are good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIiaY_MScUc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v06zL7jNjK8

Thank you I'll check them out and start working on the technique right away. I can do it okay but I don't want to get in a bad habit if I'm doing it wrong. Thanks so much

(I am an ami player myself) Jeff, You want to start off *real* slow and train your fingers to produce a very consistent tone on each note. Then gradually build up speed. Once you've gotten that down, you might like to learn to accent different notes, for example: pami pami pami pami pami pami pami pami pami pami pami pami etc. I find rasgueado much more difficult, maybe because I have a very dependent ring finger.

I have short fingernails and play tremolo mostly with the flesh of my fingers.

Thanks guys. It's not a hard technique but I didn't want to be getting in bad habits if I was doing it wrong. My problem now is playing with the thumb and the doing the tremelo with the rest of my fingers. Thanks
