Default McKnight Guitars - Just Horsing Around

We just completed an interesting project and thought we would share a few pictures with our friends here on the AGF. Our client wanted a guitar that she could sing and song write with yet tie the guitar in with her equestrian love.

Here are the specs:

HighLander OM body shape
Honduran Mahogany back and double sides
1950 Vintage Redwood top
Curly maple bindings, purflings and back strip
Spalted maple rosette
Ebony peg head, fret board and bridge

The client's initials on the back of the peg head:

Horseshoe side soundport:

White Mother of pearl horse head silhouette:

That's beautiful! I need to get up to your shop now that I have time. I moved, but only from Dublin to Columbus. Still only an hour away.

Good wood combination. That one should sound great.
Whats the little tab on the side? Does that disassemble the guitar

That's really beautiful and cool Tim. How do you think that small slit-style sound port works compared to holes?

Hi Paul,
The slit style side sound port actually works really well. Its not a huge in your face blast, like some of the larger ports but it does provide a nice stereo sound for the player.

Thank you for the kind comments from everyone else who has replied to this thread. The design elements were a bit unusual but was still a fun project for us.

Thanks David.

We are usually busy building guitars and typically don't take walk ins but please contact us to set up an appointment for a tour and visit. We would love to meet you and show you around. Don't forget that we have McJam X coming up in a few months which may interest you as well.
