Interesting how we hear music in different ways...
The Dinnigan version I couldn't get into at all. However, the Schmidt version was just so wonderful played with great separation of the voices.

This is indeed a great version (particularly like the finish) but not really comparable to other versions as its on a ten string guitar and in the different/original? key?

i noticed
edit what i mean is that Bach on guitar is from "good try" to "acceptable"
if you want to really listen to Bach you have to listen to Glen Gould
IMO of course

Yeah but not all of Bach follows this although I do know what you mean; if it good enough for cello or violin then it is (in the right hands) for guitar.
There's a lot Bach purity out there - which is nuts considering this was in likelihood heavily improvised composition / music.

Be it as it may, only Bach himself could really judge what people do with his music, but, unfortunately, he is not around to tell us. Although, I love Gould's playing, Bach might say, he is totally out of his mind.

i dont say that Bach shouldnt be played on a guitar, to get a classical deegre you have a whole suite of Bach..
i m saying that the perfectionism of Gould playing Bach is hard to be reached on a guitar
thats all

Bream makes the music so different. More like what I hear in my head when I'm playing my starter stuff.

So, thanks.
