Ovation nylon acoustic electric
Was at a jam session last night...and someone bourght in an Ovation nylon acoustic electric...he played it without an amp and it had a very nice tone, but not quite as loud as most of the regular acoustic guitars at the jam...
I found this on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ovation-Clas...item2c6ae4a502 And I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this guitar...??? I have no idea if this Ovation is the same model as the one last night... Thoughts...comments...appreciated....

If I was trying to sell that, I would be asking in the neighborhood of $650-$700. The Country Artist is a great little crossover. The necks are slightly more narrow than a classical (1 3/4-1 7/8 depending on the exact model and date of manufacture), and they play effortlessy with either regular or high-tension strings. They cannot match the tone of high-end classicals as they are braced a tad heavy, but that doesn't mean they don't sound pretty darn nice. And plugged in? They are absolutely stellar!
I had one of these a while back and have had several other Ovation nylons over the years. At present I own two, one my wife is saving for when the kids start to learn. It's a lovely little classical with a slightly shallower back that will work well for smaller arms. Mine is a custom build made with figured redwood that is one of the best guitars I've ever picked up. Good luck. that one is well worth what they are asking and then some.

I have one of these Country Artists. Plays nice and sounds good plugged in.
I'm not a classical player and don't have a "real" classical guitar to compare to it...

I've had a couple of the Country Artist models. They are everthing said here in this thread...very nice to play, not real loud, and if you got to pass your guitar around, pass the Ovation rather than your best guitar...no buckle rash.
The one shown on ebay seems a bargan right now...think I'll bid

I owned an Ovation Viper nylon string for 11 years and acoustically it was nothing special of course since it had a very, very shallow bowl and was essentially like an electric in the body. But plugged in, oh my did that thing sound great. I really think Ovation makes some of the best sounding preamps out there. They sometimes get a bad rap because of the unique way they sound acoustically, but I like many Ovation guitars and when you get into their stuff like the Adamas line of acoustics they are about as good as it gets. Plugged in they probably are as good as it gets imo.

Those vipers are really cool instruments. I wish I had never let mine go. Not to be confused with the 70's and 80's solid body electrics, these were chambered mahogany bodies with spruce tops that really excelled on stage.
They only make a signature model now, and it's pretty pricey. The folks who have tried them seem to really like them though. Yngwie J. Malmsteen Signature Viper I'll track down another some day.

I had one like the one in the video, around 1975. It was, as somebody pointed out, a different animal-classical width neck, 12 frets to the body. Sounded okay acoustically, but was really nice plugged in, not an easy feat back then. The one on eBay looks like a nice deal, especially for someone used to steel string necks.
