I can't believe that nobody's asked this yet, but- what do you like to play?
There are a ton of good suggestions on this thread, but the fact is that a Strat, Tele, and Les Paul are always going to sound different. You can add a humbucker to a strat, or you can coil tap the Les Paul's humbuckers, but they will never sound alike.
Although it is probably the least versatile, if I had to keep only one of mine it would be the Les Paul. Why? Because it plays great and sounds great, either clean or overdriven. It may only have a few sounds, but they are REALLY good ones.

hi Aaron, I mainly play Pop, Brit Pop, and Pop Rock. I don't shred, and I don't play country music.

Read through this... Thought I'd kick in my $0.02

I think one of the best guitars for the money right now is the Schecter
Diamond Series guitars... I just got a Schecter Tempest Blackjack.
IT IS SICK... Just a quick list of what it comes with, all this stuff:
Technical Details
Solid Mahogany Body
2 piece Carved Maple Top
3 Piece Mahogany Neck with Ultra access neck joint (Easy upper reg play)
22 X-Jumbo Frets... super smooth
Seymour Duncan '59 in SH1 in Neck - JB-SH4 in Bridge HOTT
Pickup config is Vol/Vol/Tone-tap/Tone-Tap Give you ability to
Split the pickups and get great Strat/Tele Single Coil sounds
String Through Body with Tone Pro's Tune-O-Matic bridge
Schecter Locking Tuners (Makes for quick string changes)
Appointments
Nice Grey Pearl binding on Top and Headstock
Dark Rosewood fretboard with Pearl Dot and Blackjack Jack/Ace @ 12th fret
Ultra Gloss Black Finish
All hardware is black/smoke chrome

The kicker is the price... Last thing I needed was another electric guitar
but I saw it at guitar center with a tag of $399... I was like... What?
All that for that price!!! I got home plugged it into my Fender Super Reverb
and ahhhh... like 3 hours later somebody called me otherwise don't think I would have stopped... LOL

Give it a shot, you can't beat Schecter Diamond series for the price and with the coil-tap on the pickups
and 3-Position toggle, it is such a versatile axe, if I had to goto just one... I'd have to seriously consider this.
I'd put it against any production Gibson guitar today!!!

Peace, Love and Rock-N-Roll, Good Luck, buying a new guitar is always fun

Funny you mention that, I have been looking at a C1 Plus for a while... I'll definitely go to the store to play one.

Thanks but I already have a Les Paul... I bet it sounds very similar to it... I was looking at something a little more versatile and to my surprise I found a Les Paul Deluxe at Guitar Center with Coil Taps... I'm continuing the quest...

Really...? A better deal...? NOT!

- Seymour Duncan PU's on the Schecter... Not some China made alnicos
- Sold by themselves for $80 each...
- Tone Pros' bridge, not some aluminum setup impacting every string change
- Tone Pro's tune-o-matic $60
- Ultra access neck joint... You simply can't beat that with any LP copy.
- Locking tuners... Grover will charge you $50
- Tone Tap on the Duncan PU's to pull some seriously cool Single Coil tones

Have you ever play an Agile Guitar before ? I don't think so because the Alnicos V pups that comes with it are actually pretty decent. Most Agile owner don't even change them. Yes the Tone pro bridge is better on the Schecter.

This is what the agile got over the Schecter :
-The AL-3000 now comes with improved wiring improved pots (now higher voltage with brass shafts for reduced noise)
- One piece Mahogany set neck with 13.7" (350mm) radius neck for fast play and adjustable truss rod compare to a 3 piece neck
-Individually hand filed frets for professional feel and playability
-Ebony fretboard with 22 Jumbo frets

I got an AL-3000 GoldTop at home. Let me tell you, it is one hell of a guitar for 400$. I spent 45$ and replace the bridge with a GOTOH and it can sustain all night. Also the Agile comes setup ready out of the box. You can read about the agile on many forums including mylespaul.com and agileguitarforum. The quality is equal to what you pay for an 1000$ guitar in store. It's the internet best kept secret. Rondo music can afford to do this because there is no middleman between them and the manufacturer. All Agile 3000 series and over are build in the Samick/Epiphone factory in Korea. Heck even the AL-2000 (which I also own) is actually a decent guitar and it's only 200$. Of course, it doesn't compare to the Schecter.

Even the Agile Dauntless with SD pups is less expensive at rondo :
