Default Top of the (Eastman) heap.....

Been wanting to give one of these a run since they came out.

Definitely a notch above their standard issue guitars in regard to fit and finish....pretty amazing actually!

It's just waking up from moderately cold weather shipping (not nearly as bad as it was last week!) I tweaked a few things and threw a fresh set of strings on it last night.

Definitely a lot more refined tonally than the other Rosewood Eastman dreads I've owned too.....it has a good bit more in the overtone department. I'm sure in a few days it will blossom some more. It's also a bit more lightweight than the other EIR versions I've had.

I was feeling around the bracing when I had the strings off last night, and like the E20D I had here a couple months back, the "off the shelf" bracing is much less substantial than the older E10D I've had here for a while.

Sure is a pretty thing.....I sent a request to a dealer to see if they could do a custom Mahogany E40 (with a few other differences) and haven't heard back yet. I'm not interested in the pricing of the new California custom shop (seems very high) but if I could get something closer to the prices coming out of the Asian shop, I might go for it.

She sure is a beauty.
Unquestionably a lot of guitar in its price point.

Not sure who you contacted, Todd, but I'll save you some time, there are no options for customizing standard models at this time.

Thanks - I figured as much. I was on the Soundpure site looking at a Preston Thompson when the thought crossed my mind. It's been about a week, so probably not going to hear back.

Really like the look of the E40. I'm probably leaning toward the OM model in Sunburst.

I have a real fondness for Eastman dreads, and your new E40 looks amazing. Glad this new year is starting well for you, Todd....

I was reading about this model and looking at listings a while back. It sure is a pretty guitar that looks like a lot of bang for the buck.

How does it compare with say a Martin D-28 Marquis or Authentic tonally and from a responsiveness standpoint? Or maybe a Santa Cruz Tony Rice?
