Default Comparing Woods?

Anyone know what the differences/(pros/cons) between Spruce vs Englemann Spruce solid tops? Also same for rosewood vs mahogany laminated sides and backs?

1) What "spruce" are we comparing to Englemann?

2) Who's the maker/ builder? Not all "laminated" is created equal.

The description just says Spruce. Both guitars are Yamaha

Yamaha CPX700 - Spruce Top/Mahogany Laminated Back and Sides

Yamaha LLX6A - Englemann Spruce Top/Rosewood Laminated Back and Sides

Default Check to see if says Solid spruce

A solid spruce top is quite a bit better than a laminate, but Yamaha is known for making good laminate guitars.

As to whether the laminate mahogany or rosewood is better - you really have to play the guitars to find out. The other variables are the strings and picks you use. Depending on the strings and picks, you can make a mahogany laminate guitar sound more mellow than the rosewood. So there are a few things to keep in mind! I would probably go with the rosewood.

I don't think you will go wrong with either guitar. This is not a world-class instrument, but it will certainly be a good friend to you and you will have fun with it.
