Oh, that new guitar time! Beautiful guitar, and icing on the cake about the playability.

Congrats

Have to jump on the bandwagon and say congrats. I am a huge fan of the SC hog tops. Like you have found, my PJ hog top is not as woody as the Martins. Not a problem. Wonderful sound. My PJ is a joy to play, is a beautiful guitar, and sounds great. Big sound for a small guitar. This thread adds to the excitement in playing the PJ just as did my recent visit to to Santa Cruz and the tour, as well as heading over to Sylvan to play a bunch of Santa Cruz (and a few others) guitars I had never seen in person before. Again, you're looks like a real beauty. Enjoy,

Jeff

This guitar plays with so little effort. I can barre chords easier then any guitar I have ever known. Such a unique tone as well.
The Santa Cruz Soft V neck has become my absolute favorite neck carve. They seem to have found the perfect compromise of V shape with just the right amount of V - not too much, not too little!

What a gorgeous guitar! Two years ago or so, I had a shot at an SC 1929-000 that was posted on AGF....they were asking $2300 which I thought to be an incredible bargain...but someone beat me to it. Instead, I bought a Martin 000-15SM for a lot less moola. I really love that distinctive hog sound and am very happy with the guitar, but I SWEAR....if another SC hog comes along at the right price, I will jump. I can't get the looks or the sound of that guitar out of my head.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I took a chance and bought it site and sound unseen.

Sometime it pays to take a risk.

Score! That's one sweet guitar. I love their necks they are perfect. I like them allot better than the Martin 1 3/4" necks.

My understanding is that SC gets it's mahogany from a tree farm started by England some place in South America way back in the 16 or 1700s (?). This was done so they had someplace to get masts for their sailing ships in this part of the world. Back when they were masters of the ocean. So the wood is well aged as it was harvested 100 years ago or something. That's one way SC is part of the solution and not part of the problem of our environment.

Definitely try a set of the SCGC low tension strings, on any guitar. Bought a pile of them despite their obnoxious price, but they especially sound nice on my H13, a hog cousin. Love those strings and they fortunately last long while. Of the larger boutiques (not sure what else you call this class) SC is my favorite ... they were easier to find when I lived right over the hill in the Bay.

You are hereby spoilt. Good luck liking anything else and congratulations on a striking instrument ...

Also, be sure to join the SCGC Players Forum. When it comes back up that is ... been down a couple days, but great knowledgable folks there. Not exactly the most reliable site though:-(
