An orbital sander wouldn't give him the accuracy he needs to make the waist fit properly. Tim uses a power roller sander which resembles the rolling pin your mother or grandmother used to flatten pie dough.

Trevor, you have been a gem to work with. Thank you for allowing us the honor of building for you. Although you and I didn't have as much time to connect as I would have liked, I am the type to give one-on-one attention to each individual customer. I tend to get comfortable with customers on personal levels which allows them to become more like brothers.
Our annual McJam feels like a family reunion where customers meet for the first time (or the first time in a year) and bring their McKnight Guitars "home to Momma and Pappa." The two 12 hour days becomes a weekend full of liveliness, food, fun and lots of great music and wonderful fellowship at our home shop. If you are ever in the states, Trevor, you are welcome to join us!

Another guitar for me to check out on the next trip to Brighton. Looks really good. I've never played a McKnight, but I've wanted to for some time. I particularly like the look of the new SDG model, but this looks good too.

Watching this guitar come together has been deja vu all over again. The back has to be the sister set of the coco from which Tim built my "Petoskey" guitar four (yikes! has it been that long?!?) years ago -- and right down to the spalted maple in the rosette, I note the similarities. If it sounds anything like my guitar, it must be beautiful, indeed, both to the eye and the ear...which makes me think I need to go play awhile on my McKnight "Petoskey"....
Congrats on a beautiful guitar.... |

Kurt,
This BC Engelmann top sounds very reminiscent of your "Blimba"; powerful, articulate and balanced but with a wee bit of bass bias as that is what Trevor requested. |
