You might want to select your wood on the sound and look you (or your customers) want. I've found IRW, mahogany, and maple very easy to bend. There are three distinct sounds generally associated with these three woods. IRW has the ring and the overtones, maple the clarity and brightness, mahogany sort sustain and good projection.
