Here's one so under the radar it qualifies as stealth technology. I give you Glenda Faye. I actually own this CD, bought anything with "flatpicking" in the title at the time. She just cut the one CD. As I understand it, she was under the tutelge of Chet Atkins. Make a good "whatever happened to" story. The gal can play.

I think Steve Baughman should be MUCH better known than he is. A super guitar talent.

And I think Harry Sacksioni is fairly well known in Holland - but definitely under the radar in the US. A really gifted player.

I answered before but need to add: Kenny Vaughan! He's got the whole history of country, rock and roll, and rockabilly coursing through those hands.

I get the impression that a lot of people are unaware of master fingerpicker Ari Eisinger.

Cool thread. I don't think Alasdair Roberts is terribly well known. Scottish folksinger, reinterprets a lot of ancient British ballads, shanties etc (as well as writing some of his own stuff). I love his playing.

Do you REALLY want to hear a bunch of "under the radar" guitar players? Ones that are not (necessarily) well-known? That play guitar with with talent, gusto, and grace? Here's what to do:
  1. Go through the signatures of AGF members and click on the links. There's a lot of guitar talent here at AGF!
  2. Go over to the "Show and Tell" forum ---- Same logic

Oddly enough, I don't listen to other guitar players or, to be fair, music at all. It's all unwanted white noise to me now. I like quiet whenever and wherever I can find it.

Yes, Ari Eisinger is definitely on my radar - but there is a BIG problem with Ari, he just doesn't tour enough. I badly want him to come to New York City. He is amazing and inspirational. And no one channels the old blues masters like he does. It's like listenign to Blind Blake on scratch free, digital recordings. Howard, if you know the man personally, tell him to hit the road and come to NYC. Fans are waiting!!

I don't know Ari personally. But there's an email address on his Second Mind website. He lives in a close-in suburb of Philadelphia, so you are just about 2 hours away. Why don't you get in touch and set up a house concert in NYC?
