I read his bio page first, in order to understand his perspective while reading that article.
I liked his story and his perspective. I also understand what he is saying about a custom-built guitar being immune to perceived obsolescence. I don't think it's completely true, however. I think you can build a custom guitar, then realize you would have done things differently, if done over. Then you build another custom guitar. One thing I have a problem with is his postings. His blog-style web pages were full of grammatical, typing and punctuation errors. I know it's "only the Internet" so English composition rules apparently don't apply, but even his section on the importance of quality was sloppy and had mistakes. That was a huge red flag to me in the attention-to-detail that a person is capable of. It reminds me of a job-candidate who applied for one of my positions. My coaching to him about his resume was "you can't claim 'excellent attention to detail' while misspelling it."
