I have one of the first Recording King reintroduction guitars, an ROS-626 000. It has a 1 7/8 nut, string spacing is 2 3/8…love that combination. It is one of the most comfortable guitars I have played. I just ordered a David Webber OOO with the same spacing.

I chose 1 3/4" although I equally like 1 13/16", each depending on other neck measurements, fingerboard radius, neck profile and scale length. My classical is a bit north of 2".

I think 1 3/4 is the most versatile. It's good for fingerpicking and great for flatpicking. If I could only have one but width, 1 3/4 would be it. I see all the other widths as "specialty widths"

I voted 'other' because nut width is only part of the picture of playing ease. One must also consider the saddle spacing, scale length, and general neck profile. I never thought I'd find myself playing a 1 11/16" nut width guitar; but my Ferguson J35 has a neck with a depth that makes it play like a dream! On the other hand, I've had guitars with 1 3/4" nut widths that were all but unplayable.
But for all I've just mentioned, I'll have to admit that I find the Gibson Luthier's choice neck profile (with 1.77" nut width) to be the closest to perfection for me.
