I just acquired a guitar made by Joel Stehr. I tend to list guitars soon after obtaining them for several reasons. 1. I get a sense of the market interest and value. 2. If you suffer from the same strain of GAS that I do, there are always guitars out there that intrigue me. I have my eye on 4-5 guitars at any given time.

I just restrung it and there is a chance I won't be selling/trading it. Just want to put it out there.

It is a dreadnaught model. Slope shoulder. With the Carpathian spruce top and Malaysian have any back and sides. It is quite easily the most breathtaking guitar I've ever seen. 25.4 inch scale length. 510 Gotoh gold tuners. Custom inlay work (lion headstock, eagle fretboard). Ebony tailblock. Gorgeous 5-piece neck. African Ebony binding and end block. Maple purfling. C profile neck that has a nice shape and heft to it. Action is phenomenal. Tonally, it has banner-era Gibson bottom end with more chime and presence on the high end. Plays very easily and well with fingers, thumb-puck fingerstyle and with a flat pick so long as not too aggressively. .

I have been in touch with Joel and gotten a letter from him stating the guitar would be worth $6500 if built today.

Clean condition. Mild imperfections in the sunburst top (Joel's first sunburst guitar). No cracks, repairs. Frets in exceptional shape.

Joel Stehr that has the warm bottom end of a banner Gibson along with a more present mid and high end. The carpathian top is similar to Adirondack in that you cannot overdrive it. Yet more responsive to subtle fingerstyle play.

This beauty sits in a case waiting for someone to appreciate her. Completed beautiful Malaysian ebony back and sides. Carpathian spruce soundboard permits (better than any guitar I have ever know) chord chunking rhythm to a delicate finger style very well. Reminds me of a Banner Gibson J-body with some of the delicate shimmer of a Goodall.
